The main purpose of this complete system is to enable the laboratory to identify both qualitatively and quantitatively any gamma-emitting radionuclides from natural and artificial origin. The High-resolution HPGe system is the most convenient tool to achieve this goal.
Comprehensive training should be provided in association with this system in order to assess the radionuclides of interest efficiently. Qualified personnel (science or engineering degrees) are supposed to receive the proposed training.
The following is a description of the gamma spectrometry system that needs to be supplied in order to achieve the above-mentioned goal.
HPGe System (Gamma spectrometry system):
Specification of Gamma-ray Spectrometer Based on High-Purity Germanium Detector with Lead Shield. Information and accessories, equipment for systems: –
The following training should be provided as part of the HPGe detector
Gamma spectrometry training;
- Basics of spectroscopy, isotopes, energies and interferences, efficiency, energy
- Sampling and sample preparation
- Using spectroscopy to Determine the radiation in soil and water also determines natural and artificial isotopes in soil and rocks by gamma spectroscopy
- Determination of the artificial isotopes in air by gamma spectroscopy
- Instrumentation, software handling, and energy calibration
- Uncertainties and minimal detectable limits (MDA).
- QA and QC
- Calculation sheets for the Gamma emitters in Water.
